Caterpillar in the tree, how you wonder who you'll be
Can't go far but you can always dream
Wish you may and wish you might
Don't you worry hold on tight
I promise you there will come a day
Butterfly fly away
Flap your wings now you can't stay
Take those dreams and make them all come true
Butterly fly away
Plum and Pierre the caterpillars have flown the coop. It all happened so fast. Poor Mimi didn't make it as a caterpillar--we had to handle her once when cleaning the bottle we kept them in and I think that was too much for her. So we had two make it to cocoon stage--totally fascinating. Why have we never done this before? It all happened so fast, everything. For some reason I thought it would be a slower process. A couple days ago Gretel walked in her room to find this:

A butterfly! We all ran in there to see, we were so surprised! So we took it outside and it took Pierre about 30 minutes before he was ready to fly off the stick. I guess his wings had to dry or something. It was really cool.
So then this morning when Gretel woke up, low and behold Plum had made his (or her) way out and was up at the top of the bottle just waiting to fly out. Who knows when he had hatched in the night. So we quickly took him outside, he started flapping his wings to get them ready, and then presto, to the gardenias he went.
The creation of this world and the beauty all around never ceases to amaze me. The whole metamorphosis thing is out of this world incredible. We were totally blown away by just two pudgy little caterpillars and how they transformed themselves into such beautiful creatures. Makes me ponder on my own personal metamorphosis. The Lord can make anything possible, and he does.
